Next week, our MYP students will take part in the global Hour of AI initiative, a movement designed to help students step confidently into a world shaped by Artificial Intelligence. AI is transforming how we learn, work, and live, yet many young people engage with it without fully understanding how it works or how to use it responsibly. The Hour of AI aims to change that by empowering students to become creators of technology rather than passive users of it.
The programme offers an inspiring, hands-on introduction to AI through one hour of creative, accessible activities built to spark curiosity and develop foundational computational thinking skills. Students will explore interactive games, creative challenges, and beginner friendly coding tasks that demystify how AI works and showcase what is possible when it is used thoughtfully and for good.
As part of this learning experience, students will also engage with resources from Common Sense Media, including the new interactive game Two Truths & AI. This activity challenges students to distinguish between real and AI generated images and strengthens their critical evaluation skills by prompting them to identify visual clues and articulate their reasoning. Students will take part in these activities during form time and in their Design lessons next week.
Our goal is to equip students with the confidence, curiosity, and digital literacy they need to navigate an AI driven world safely and responsibly. Most importantly, we want them to recognise their potential to help shape the future of technology, not simply watch it happen around them.
