This week, democracy was not studied from a textbook. It was experienced, organised and lived by our students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of a city-wide initiative promoted by the Municipality of Vicenza<\/strong>, our students took part in the Children\u2019s and Youth City Council<\/strong>, a project designed to give young people a voice in public life and help them develop critical thinking around topics such as school, the environment, sport and community services. It is a powerful example of youth participatory democracy<\/strong>, where ideas and perspectives from younger generations are brought to the attention of local institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were honoured to welcome Giovanni Selmo<\/strong>, Councillor for Education and School Buildings, who visited the school to meet the students and observe the initiative in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the occasion, students organised a full and realistic election process, complete with polling station, ballot box, voting booth, electoral rolls and vote counters. Participation was extremely high, a clear sign of their enthusiasm and sense of responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The experience does not end here. The next steps of the project are already underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A powerful opportunity for our students to experience citizenship not just as a concept, but as a real and meaningful responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strong turnout and the students\u2019 commitment showed how much they value being involved and having their voices heard. The desire to participate and the shared sense of community turned this experience into a moment of great educational value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to congratulate the students who will be elected<\/strong> and thank all candidates for their commitment, courage and willingness to take on this important role. We look forward to seeing our representatives give voice to our school within the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
