Veneto Legge 2025: A Celebration of Reading and Snow 1600 1200 Eleonora Marchio

Today our school in Vicenza proudly joined Maratona di Lettura – Veneto Legge, the regional initiative that unites schools, libraries, and communities across Veneto in the name of books and stories. This year’s edition was dedicated to the theme of snow, chosen to celebrate the upcoming Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026. Snow, with its beauty and symbolism, became the thread running through a day of reading, discovery, and sharing.

The morning opened with a special surprise: on the interactive screens in their classrooms, PYP1–PYP5 students discovered the covers of selected books and were invited to choose the one that intrigued them the most. Their choices guided them into mixed groups across grades, where they read and shared passages together. This moment broke down the boundaries of age and class, creating a genuine community of readers where voices, ideas, and emotions blended naturally.

In the afternoon, the spirit of reading took on a new dimension. During the afternoon PYP students visited the Early Years Unit, where they became storytellers for the youngest members of our school. With enthusiasm and care, they read the same books aloud, offering EYU children not just words, but the magic of stories told by older peers. This encounter between the older peers and the youngest learners created a bridge of empathy and imagination, turning reading into an act of generosity and inspiration.

The day reminded us that reading is never a solitary act: it is dialogue, connection, and community.

Just like snowflakes, every story is unique, yet when brought together they can cover the world with beauty and wonder. At H-FARM International School Vicenza, initiatives like Veneto Legge reflect our belief that education is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about cultivating curiosity, creativity, and empathy—values that will stay with our students for life.
